Eastern Environmental Solutions, Inc. is actively seeking a full-time Shop Foreman/Fleet Manager to join our team.

An Experienced Shop Foreman/Fleet Manager is needed to perform and oversee the performance of others providing maintenance on a fleet of extensive diesel engine heavy duty trucks, trailers and heavy equipment in Manorville, N.Y.

Shop Foreman/Fleet Manager Position Job Description:

  • Prepare work assignments for shop mechanics.
  • Oversee shop staff.
  • Maintain parts inventory.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot problems with vehicles and equipment.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on heavy duty trucks and trailers.
  • Conduct diagnostics with limited supervision.
  • Complete most repairs and parts replacements.
  • Repair and rebuild pumps: hydraulic, electric and pneumatic.
  • Completes required paperwork utilizing fleet maintenance associated with repairing vehicles, documenting parts usage, and accounting for repair times.
  • Fabrication of parts and equipment.
  • Communicate with drivers regarding “Vehicle Condition Reports” and make appropriate repairs.
  • Maintain a clean, safe work area in compliance with company and OSHA standards.
  • Performs service calls for emergency breakdowns.
  • Must be able to work independently and with others.
  • Must have problem-solving skills, good communication skills, and organization.
  • Other duties may be assigned.
 

Primary Duties: Preventative maintenance, oil changes, air/hydraulic brakes, suspensions, transmissions.

Qualifications & Requirements: Qualified candidates for the Shop Foreman/Fleet Manager position must have the following Education/Experience:

  • 5 plus years of experience working on heavy duty diesel equipment is required.
  • Must be able to lift and maneuver heavy vehicle components.
  • Stable work history, and a great attitude.
  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.  Trade school, mechanical course, or equivalent highly desired. 
  • Valid Class B CDL is a plus.

We are seeking an experienced Geoprobe Operator, needed for our Manorville, NY 11949 location.

Geoprobe Operator Position Job Description:

  • Operate our Geoprobe sonic drill rigs. 
  • Conduct soil tests and groundwater sampling. 
  • Perform well drilling, installations, and injections. 
  • Take soil boring samples.
  • Work closely with on site consultants. 
 

Qualifications & Requirements: Qualified candidates for the Geoprobe Operator position must have the following Education/Experience:

  • Experience required with Geoprobe or similar direct push and hollow stem auger machinery, mandatory.
  • A Valid NYS Commercial Drivers License (CDL) is required.
  • 40 Hour OSHA Certification a plus.
  • Technical experience in working with contaminated subsurface materials, soil sampling, groundwater sampling, well installations and material injections.
  • Professional level of client interaction.
  • Must be able to lift items up to 75lbs in weight on a daily basis.
  • Willing to work outdoors year around and/or in confined spaces.

We are seeking a highly motivated, experienced and skilled Project Manager. This is a fast paced, highly visible position where you will be both in the office working with clients over the phone and on site directing field workers. This position requires an individual that is team oriented, a multitasker, as well as a strong individual contributor.

Your duties will include but not be limited to:

  • Independently and successfully managing projects from start up to completion.
  • Must effectively communicate project plans to staff members, clients and regulatory agencies.
  • Manage project economics such as costs, operational budgets, staffing requirements and resources.
  • Oversee project scheduling, time and resource management, safety and health issues as well as completion of written status and closure reports and invoicing.
  • Job inspections including the estimating, bidding, and proposal process.
  • Work closely with senior managers to identify potential opportunities/clients while maintaining current client relations.
  • Provide leadership and direction to technicians and drivers to ensure safety and compliance with OSHA standards.
 

 Qualifications & Requirements: Qualified candidates for the Shop Foreman/Fleet Manager position must have the following Education/Experience:

  • College education in environmental, engineering or related science program preferred.
  • 3-5 years of experience in environmental remedial and/or restoration projects.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of project management principals.

Sets up, drives, and operates various vacuum & vacuum excavation equipment in the performance of daily operations. Operates waste hauling trucks as directed based on operational needs.

Duties and Responsibilities 

  • Set up and operate vacuum/Vactor trucks. This includes lifting, carrying and pulling hoses of up to 100lbs, climbing on to the unit (12′ high) for set up and minor maintenance, standing, kneeling or bending for long periods of time.
  •  Set up and operate sewer cleaning equipment. This includes lifting equipment weighing up to 75lbs, standing for long periods of time, and climbing on to the unit for set up.
  •  Perform confined space entry in tanks, pits, trenches and other areas that may include climbing, standing and working in awkward positions.
  •  You will assist in performing soil remediation, plant decontaminations, above & underground tank removals and emergency response services.
  •  Inspect, use, and maintain various personal protection equipment including respiratory protection equipment, safety harnesses, and air monitoring equipment.
  •  Work in a variety of work environments including chemical plants, metal fabrication plants, hot and cold weather and noisy environments, etc.
  •  Drive waste hauling vehicles.
  •  Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections in accordance with NYSDOT guidelines.
  •  Maintain Hours of Service logs (when required) accurate and up to date.
  •  Identify and ensure write-ups of defective equipment on trucks.
  •  Check all load related paper work prior to movement of load to ensure completeness and accuracy including manifests, bill of lading, land disposal restriction forms, etc.
  •  Ensure professional and safe operation of vehicles while on customer property and over the road.

Qualifications & Requirements: Qualified candidates for the Vactor Operator position must have the following Education/Experience:

  •  Must be thoroughly familiar with Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations
  •  Must be familiar with Hazardous Materials Transportation Regulations.
  •  A valid NYS Commercial Drivers License Class A or B (tanker endorsement) 
  • Hazmat endorsement a plus. Ability to obtain a HAZMAT endorsement within one year of hire.

We are currently seeking experienced individuals who hold valid CDL A or B License with tanker and hazmat x-endorsements, to join our team. Our CDL Drivers are responsible for the safe operation of dump trucks, Vactors, vacuum trailers, roll-off trucks, vacuum trucks, and other environmental contracting vehicles. This is a labor intensive position. 40 Hour Hazwoper OSHA Training preferred, along with excellent safety records. This is a full time position. 

Employment Responsibilities:

  • Perform DOT pre and post truck inspections.
  • Ability to lift and move vacuum vactor hoses and tubes.
  • Ability to start early and work late or evening hours.
  • Clean up of emergency spills of hazardous and non-hazardous materials when required.
  • Ability to interpret maps, and knowledge of Long Island and NYC roadways.
  • Moving/handling of drums containing liquids and solids.
  • Ability to work in all NY weather conditions.
  • Availability of 24/7 coverage when required.
  • Completion of daily work orders and disposal manifests.
 

Candidate Qualifications

  • Valid CDL License and clean driving record (MVR).
  • Current DOT Medical Card.
  • Class A or B Commercial License with tanker and Hazmat X-endorsement required.
  • Basic mechanical skills required.
  • Minimum two years of experience.
  • Subject to pre employment drug and alcohol screening and random testing.
  • Must pass a Pre Employment Physical.
